Quick Install Guide - Multicoder
The scope of this document is to give a thorough introduction on the Multicoder. At the end of this guide the user will be able to run a basic setup and have an audio stream playing.
Multicoder runs the Flexa firmware and the Multicoder application on the top. Refer to the Multicoder user manuals for a complete explanation on the software functionalities.

Quick Install Guide
The Barix Multicoder is an audio over IP encoder with a line-level input on stereo RCA connections.
Installation
STEP 1 Connect the Audio Equipment
The Multicoder provides an unbalanced line level input (nominal at 0dBu), to be connected to a mixer,
an audio source, etc. To listen the IP address of the device directly after reboot, also a headphone
should be connected to the headphone output.
STEP 2 Connect the network
Connect your Multicoder to the network using a standard Ethernet cable (CAT5e or better).
STEP 3 Connect the power supply
Plug the power chord into the power connector on the back panel of the device. The device will boot:
Right after power-up both status LEDs are red (boot in process)
15s after power-up → Device announces its IP Address over the headphone output (take note to be able to enter the web interface later) → Left LED turns from red to green
34s after power up → Application is ready → Right LED is slowly blinking
Multicoder is ready to be configured.
First Configuration
1 | From a PC in the same network subnet of the device, use a web browser to access the web interface by typing the IP Address into your browser (the one noted during boot) |
2 | Login is required, by default user is "admin" and the password is provided on the sticker on the backside of the device (PW label) |
3 | On the “Home” page you get information about the application status. |
4 | Go to the “Settings” Page, after a short moment you will get a “Multicoder Settings” button, where you can configure the the audio/codec settings. Click on it and configure the Audio settings. For the initial version 1.0.2 make sure the “Configuration Source” is set to “local”. Note, the Configuration Source “Cloud” is not working in this version. It will supported in the future. |
5 | When done, click “Submit”. |
6 | Thereafter click on “Stream” to configure the stream settings and the streaming targets. |
7 | When done, click “Submit”. The streaming to configured target will start directly thereafter. |
