Release Notes

This document describes the Change Log of the V6.1.0 of the RetailPlayer Firmware

Release Date

Change Log

New Features

  • Instant file playback when command is received from the Portal (via web app accessed from QR Code) - This playback overrides every other playback source except Priority URL and USB Tracks if those are playing
  • Local Web Interface access protected with default password (available on the bottom sticker of every RetailPlayer device)
  • Player is now able to playback .wav / .ogg / .aac audio files
  • Priority URL supports now RTP streams in Unicast or Multicast with low latency playback (perfect for paging purposes with local IP paging systems)

Changes/Improvements

  • Default Volume set to 70 instead of 100
  • Improved handling of thousands of trigger points received from the Portal when running "intense" schedules (1300 trigger points)

Fixes

  • Fixed: The RetailPlayer device plays all audio clips and scheduled streaming channels when there is a time change (i.e. when the time zone is changed by mistake to a western zone or when there is an automatic change of the time due to winter time change)
  • Fixed: Soft reset from local UI doesn't wipes correctly audio files and failover tracks when performed

Known Limitations / Issues

  • Ethernet interface must be kept in DHCP mode to allow Wireless LAN operation
  • WLAN interface is not identified by Discovery Tool
  • Local Web UI is currently accessible only with HTTP protocol (no HTTPs support)
  • When playing an RTP stream with unsupported audio format the player doesn't behave as expected, it doesn't change to another working channel anymore with the risk of being silent if failover tracks are not uploaded
  • Update of the Firmware cannot be done using WiFi only connection, wired connection must be used
  • The player opens multiple HTTP connections when connecting with an http stream, this causes waste of network resources and might result in the RetailPlayer device being banned from some strict streaming service providers
